@RESDataEditor
This is the account of the @RoyalEconSoc Data Editor.
I wrote a blog post for @RESDataEditor about reproducibility challenges across @Stata versions. Based on forthcoming @EJ_RES paper by @kbburchardi et al (paper replicates perfectly!) ejdataeditor.github.io/posts/20240505… #econtwitter #reproducibility @AeaData @korenmiklos @JoanLlull_econ
@MateoMogliaEcon awarded the replicator badge of honour! We are many. We are everywhere. 💪 @RESDataEditor @EJ_RES @ScPoEcon
I appreciate @toniwhited brought this debate up, it is important to have healthy debates that help us improve the system. I adhere to many colleagues' replies and also my own, won't repeat them here, but I wanted to raise a couple of additional points from experience 🧵👇 (1/7)
I wanted to kick up dust. I'm totally in favor of replicability, but in the spirit of Grossman-Stiglitz, perfect is neither attainable nor optimal.
Let me provide a few comments from the other side on this thread. If you start thinking about reproducibility of your work only the day the paper gets accepted, it can get rough. Start on day 1! We provide workshops! Let’s take a closer look: 1/n
Texting with a colleague at another uni who is mired in the AEA replication process. Wasting > month getting all in order so that some RA can just push one button and get all the data merges right so that the results are perfect to the 3rd decimal place. 1/5
I am lucky to have a crack team of replicators @EJ_RES 💪 . Congrats to the authors!
Excited to see "Job Polarisation, Labour Market Fluidity and the Flattening of the Phillips Curve" (w/@RicZago) in the Economic Journal academic.oup.com/ej/advance-art… Thanks to Editor, @FpjPortier, referees and data editor @FlorianOswald for an amazing process. The paper improved a lot
Attending #EEAESEM23? I'm honored to chair a round-table on Thu 31 w/ @guido_imbens Marie Connolly @sulealan_econ & José Montalvo to discuss on "Data sharing when collection is costly: do journals ask too much?" 👇 @EEANews @econometricsoc @bse_barcelona eea-esem-2023.org/sessions/round…
