An exciting find here this week was Callicera spinolae, the Golden Hoverfly! This is a rare Ivy specialist restricted to East Anglia so we had been hoping it might turn up. Ivy is so important for pollinators at this time of year @StevenFalk1 @FarmWildlifeUK
Digging holes again this autumn to keep on top of soil monitoring and track progress. So varied across fields but some signs of life coming back after a bit of rain! #fungi #symbiosis #soillife @soilmentor
I think this is Abia nitens, an impressive sawfly that feeds on scabious. One of the many benefits of a "weedy" yard! sawflies.org.uk/abia-sericea/
After talking about never having moisture to grow cover crops in our part of the world, we now have covers in and romping away in this weather. Rain could have come earlier but not complaining now! Not a bad year to make the most of the solar panel in the sky @OakbankGame

BIG NEWS: For the first time in six years, Britain's rarest breeding bird has successfully nested in the UK! A pair of Montagu's Harriers have raised four healthy chicks, all of which have taken their first flights.
30/07/25 - That's a wrap on harvest 25 🤯I think must be in the record for one of the earliest finishes we've had?
The field margins are still going strong here! Melitta leporina (a clover-loving solitary bee) and its brood parasite Nomada flavopicta have been found using them this summer 🐝
Harvest paused for a few days thanks to some much needed rain... Meanwhile we enjoyed a wonderful summers evening with the Cambridge Bird Club walking around the farm. Nice spots of grey partridge, yellowhammer and kestrel too. Thanks @Duerdenc1 !
