According to an anonymous organizer, a UCPD officer came by DLG at 12 p.m., asked a few questions, then left the scene. The collective will remain until lunch is over or they have to leave for safety reasons, an organizer said.

The purpose, an anonymous organizer said, is that “everyone can eat for free” because the group “would rather the school's money go to feeding the students than bombs or war research.” A UCSB Liberated Zone Instagram post said “UCSB must disclose where it invests $169 billion.”
A collective group has taken over the De La Guerra (DLG) Dining Commons and Carillo Dining Commons to give students free food. Three to four organizers man the DLG door and swipe counter, and dining common staff are on standby observing the action.

Around 55 students have set up an encampment at the lawn between North Hall or “Malcolm X Hall” and the Library in solidarity with Palestine and “all oppressed people.”
As of 10:30 p.m., the encampments remain peaceful and the group is stocked with perishable foods and medical supplies. Several participants intend to stay overnight, and a media spokesperson said the encampments will stay put for at least a few days.
