Railfuture in Severnside campaigning for a bigger and better railway in Britain. Railfuture Ltd - Registered in England/Wales No.5011634.

Let’s meet! Railfuture Severnside is planning a get-together for its members. The meeting will be held at 2pm on Saturday 18th October at The Railway Inn which is right next to Yatton station. Guest speaker, TBC, will be a BBC presenter who has been working on a rail documentary.

Railfuture will be on BBC Radio Bristol at about 17:10 talking about the class 800 problems

Catch Railfuture on BBC Radio Bristol just after 4pm today.

Railfuture hopes that the successful shuttle service which ran on 8 Saturdays in 2019 between Taunton and Bishops Lydeard to connect with the WSR will be repeated on a greater number of days in 2021. Nigel Bray

Railfuture welcomes the proposal in the report by Lord Berkeley and Michael Byng to upgrade the track and structures on the West Somerset Railway. This could allow a regular passenger service into the national rail network at Taunton. Nigel Bray

Railfuture on BBC Points West about now and at 6.30

In mid Western England are some of the longest gaps between stations on existing lines in the UK, eg 34 miles from Bristol Parkway to Swindon; 28 miles from Taunton to Castle Cary. Most people don't have the time to walk or cycle these distances. Nigel Bray.

Taped announcements at stations advising people to walk or cycle instead of catching a train are completely unrealistic in the West of England. Stations are few and far between in Gloucestershire, Somerset and much of Wiltshire. Nigel Bray.

Spring 2020 issue of the @RailfutureSSide branch newsletter can be read on the @Railfuture website at railfuture.org.uk/display2270. Our AGM is in #Kemble on 4 April. Why not come along? Join Railfuture online at railfuture.org.uk/join/

Railfuture welcomes Cotswold District Council's bid for Government funding to reopen the Kemble-Cirencester line, which would encourage people to visit Cirencester without the need for a car.

Reopening Stonehouse Bristol Road station would transform connectivity between Gloucestershire's third largest urban area (Stroud/Stonehouse) and Greater Bristol.

Development Consent order (DCO) for “Nationally significant” #Portishead railway reopening (strongly supported by @Railfuture) is about to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate by North Somerset Council. News story at: railbusinessdaily.com/nationally-sig…

Another overcrowded Cross Country Voyager - when are DfT going to get to grips with the urgent capacity problem?

Despite today's engineering works full marks to #CrossCountry for information on route and arrival on time railfuture.org.uk

We want the new regional transport boards to improve the public transport experience.

New regional transport boards are coming to the South West. It's our job to push them in the right direction so that all investment doesn't just go into road schemes. Rail needs its fair share of the investment pie. @RailfutureWessx #trains

Next @RailfutureSSide meeting will be on Saturday 16 November 2019 (starting 14:00) in #Stonehouse at the Community Centre. Includes presentation on campaign to reopen Stonehouse Bristol Road station. Details of venue/directions in our latest newsletter: railfuture.org.uk/display2179

...We hope the deferred electrification from Chippenham and Bristol Parkway to Temple Meads will be implemented. We also want MetroWest and reopening of Saltford station delivered. democracy.bathnes.gov.uk/documents/s586…
