Had a conversation with a colleague yesterday where we talked about diversity and inclusion things and he said, “Allies are great, but we need accomplices” and YES. Yes, we do.
New faculty orientation has been great! But the coolest thing that happened was being approached by a group of students who were on a scavenger hunt. They needed a picture with someone wearing a suit, and they picked me. Oddly affirming. 😌
My dissertation defense is tomorrow! So today I’m managing anxiety with video games. 😅

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted on here. I have good news. My defense date has been scheduled! The bad news: my defense date has been scheduled. 😅
Why in 2021 are non-binary individuals still considered women-lite? I didn’t yeet the teets to continually explain to feminists why I’m not a woman.
It’s conference week! I’m excited to speak with students one-on-one and maybe see some faces (web cams optional). Conferences seem especially significant with classes being online. I’m optimistic for the week.
The investigation into “the incident” that occurred during my first day of the semester has resulted in....nothing. The investigation was closed. On the one hand, I’m not surprised. On the other...universities have a LOT of work to do in addressing harassment at all levels.
It seemed like a good day to get outside and avoid the dissertation.
