On this day in Scottish History, the golden fields of East Lothian saw a bloody disaster in the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh. Usually known as the Battle of Pinkie, this was part of the Rough Wooing, an English attempt to force the infant Mary Queen of Scots to marry Edward VI.
