I've heard the theory that at least part of it is that the signal for a charge call seems cool and fun to do. If they made it more boring, there would be less charge calls.
I've got a few good Tinkle stories. It's always fun to watch coaches who came up through the ranks from the smaller D1 schools have success. Interesting side note, NCAA tourney official Deldre Carr played for Tinkle at Montana. I believe Tinkle was an assistant then.

Just read this article - I'm not a virologist but if you had contracted COVID traveling to Indy it would not have shown up on a test that day. The real issue is that officials should have been tested as soon as they entered the bubble. thebiglead.com/posts/ted-vale…
