The decline of protest politics has been a slow and painful realisation for some. In 2011 Occupy we were 'the 99%', after 2015 GE the 75% (not Tory voters), after 2016 the 48% & now aspiring to #3.5%. A decade wasted. Shouting not listening.
65/. “Great falsehoods were perpetrated & yet the individuals who perpetrated these things are still running around much as before being taken seriously…These people should hide their heads in shame” 20 years after the #IraqInvasion, there has been zero accountability #IraqWar
In the spirit of retro since yesterday's report here's my brush with the authoritarian Council leadership. There was leadership, it was just very, very bad! sheffield.gov.uk/your-city-coun…
My line for Council today that: 'a. Notes the recent application to the High Court by Sheffield City Council to commit Cllr Alison Teal to prison.' was deleted for inaccuracy. This what the court thought.
This #SmallBizSatUK, we call on both national and local governments to support small businesses and social enterprises to be greener, improve employee welfare and make it easier to shop local. Co-leader @AdrianRamsay 👇

This should be seen as an opportunity for @TheGreenParty not a threat. But it would require us making the environment our priority.
I hate this prick, and I esp hate that he’s right about stuff like this: it’s critical in western democracies that combatting climate change is *not* seen as something only the left cares about or only the left can fix or that requires policies that also advance other left goals.
bit.ly/CllrRaouf-Kyle… Great article by @colin__drury exploring the younger years of @kylewalker2 when @SheffieldUnited. I used to play football with him on Langdon St (#Sharrow) when younger and was easy to see he would make it to the top back in early 2000s #EURO2020
Greece was ruined by an unholy alliance of its ruling class and Brussels. Despite that, I thought Brexit would hurt the weakest in the UK & so opposed it. But having watched the disgraceful behaviour of hard remainers & of Brussels post-2016, I changed my tune.
Later this morning, Mayor @DanJarvisMP has the opportunity to bring our failing bus network back under public control. Or he can choose to continue letting private operators off the hook. @MJHTopham of @We_OwnIt writing for @NowThenMag this morning. 👇 nowthenmagazine.com/articles/dan-j…

Still shocks me Labour Council did this. Judge dismissed case without me taking the stand. They had to pay my barrister costs - £15K plus their own ££££ barrister. Labour try to intimidate and bully @SheffieldGreens and we stand up to them for residents and nature. @TheGreenParty
'trying to jail' an opposition councillor. What would you call it?
Hey @Keir_Starmer tell me about the £1billion investment deal Labour Setup for Sheffield Including central library. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…
You and the likeminded have brought this on yourself. It was lazy ideological smear to depict BJ as a hard right, nativist, free market zealot. In fact he’s a one-nation, big government, liberal Tory. You’ll never beat him if you don’t understand him.
It's not a complaint it's an observation. It means precisely that Labour cannot rely on self-inflicted austerity, death taxes etc to scupper a Tory election campaign... it gives Labour the licence to do what Biden has done, but Sunak refused to do: 9.9% GDP fiscal stimulus...
Why have Leeds and Manchester thrived under the exact same governments.
NEW: South Yorkshire mayor Dan Jarvis and fellow council leaders hit out at the Government's levelling up agenda as 'pork-barrel politics'. "The area had been ‘levelled down by a triple whammy of industrial decline, Covid-19, and the worst effects of austerity’. (1/2)
Proposed ruling group amendment: "today we commit to consulting communities at a local level" (Leader Sheff City Council 18.3.21).....after all the key decisions made by a handful behind closed doors..
