Lovely day yesterday spending time with @Kazumi_Taguchi doing three transvesical simple prostatectomies. @UABUrology is building quite the powerhouse in bph treatment (looking at you @jfunkmd 👍🏼). Thanks to Ryan Winn for organizing.
SP is like having a camera with a bag of 10 lenses compared to a single lens. The options to approach a given task are much more numerous than the single lens option so more cognitive load. Once you figure out how you like to do things though it starts to even out.
Just had this conversation with one of my chief residents last week who did the SP cases that day with me & mentioned at the end of the day how he just felt mentally more tired. The cognitive load is definitely higher early on but thankfully it becomes more muscle memory in time
