Benoit Blanc shows how desperate millennial audiences are for a kind and wise elder gay to explain why the rich people have made everything so awful
President Yoon requires *SEVEN* hundred police to cover his daily commute from his home to his Yongsan office. The number of police employed to control the 10k crowds in Itaewon this evening was 200. m.hani.co.kr/arti/society/s…
Quick comparison (with previous president and city mayor in charge): 2017’s Halloween event in Itaewon drew an even larger crowd of 200k people, compared to this year’s crowd of 100k. Can’t find any reports of casualties for that year. chosun.com/site/data/html…
Imagine if Trump had abandoned the White House and decided to relocate the entire West Wing to Trump Tower and suddenly the NYPD was tasked with dealing with all of the shit that comes with that, with only a minor increase to their numbers. And then Macy’s Day Parade happened.
I personally believe this entire presidential vanity project was a significant, if not the MAIN, factor for the death toll. Those police were needed for crowd control. They knew they were shortstaffed. The conservative mayor did nothing. The president does not belong in Yongsan.
Though they were provided with more manpower, it was only a third of the numbers they needed, most of which was devoted entirely to managing traffic for the presidential motorcade + security + protection.
The reason they are shortstaffed (and have been for months) is because the president decided to abandon the Blue House as his official workplace/residence in favor of Yongsan, for no discernibly legitimate reason, and so the Yongsan police force has been tasked with his security.
The news reported that 100,000 people were expected to flock to Itaewon, but there was apparently no crowd control. Itaewon is under the jurisdiction of the Yongsan Police Department, which has been complaining about being short staffed since the beginning of the year.
This is the best case scenario??? Like, second to Ukraine? Right now? ABSOLUTELY. #eurovision
Ooft, actually glad we were second, did not want to topple Ukraine! So glad the public vote overwhelmingly supported Ukraine. Fab #Eurovision night. @grahnort sublime as ever.
Trying to explain to my kids that after years and years of receiving no points, this is already like winning. Doesn’t matter if we actually do. #Eurovision
