Advocate for your design candidates - invest in them early on. If there is a way to get them more money - max out. Historically I’ve seen that initial salary packages always have the largest impact. Push for a salary for your team and make it equitable (as much as possible).
I believe there is a fundamental disconnect between the way designers and business people think. A disconnect that causes a huge amount of personal dissatisfaction. Let me try and explain...
