Very excited that our latest is live on @Matter_CP! We show Au and Ag plasmonic nanoparticle absorption can be tuned to higher energies (blue and UV) by alloying post-transition metals (Sn, etc.) @RossLabUML @UML_Sciences @UMLResearch authors.elsevier.com/a/1gX1j9Cyxd30…
Big accepted! Great way to kick off the year
Congratulations to Prof. @MichaelRossUML (Chemistry) on his solo PI research grant from the @USNavyResearch for his work on energy related topics for #hydrogen and #CO2sequestration! @RossLabUML
Great to see current undergraduate researcher Noah Mason (Chemistry) highlighted at the top of the uml.edu homepage! Follow the link to learn about his experience. @UML_Sciences @UMLResearch
The Kennedy College of Sciences welcomed our first ever cohort of #CatalyzeUML students in #chemistry! It’s been a fun 3 days of living in the residence halls, learning about #nanoscience, and meeting students and faculty! @RossLabUML

Let's give a huge round of applause to our 2022 Teaching Excellence Award recipients! (part 1 of 3) @NatalieSteinel @RossLabUML @UML_Biology #kcs #science #2022teaching excellenceawards
Excited to show you all some exciting catalysis and materials apps soon... The bulk of this was done by Maria over a few years and is an incredible piece of work we are quite proud of @mfonseca2016 Melissa and Noah (looking for PhD next year!) were also a big part of the effort.
Importantly, alloying does not significantly damp the absorption. High extinction coefficients are maintained even at ~25% post-transition metal content. Lots of interesting alloying and intermetallic formation as well- read the paper (and SI)!
Excited to share our latest work! Systematic alloying of post-transition metals into noble metals can controllably tune plasmon energies to higher energies. This is contrast to well-known effects of size, shape, or environment, all of which red-shift LSPRs chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi…
It was an honor to host Stoneham High, Chelmsford High, and Salem High #chemistry students for our @ACSUML Chemistry Quiz Bowl! Way to pull out the win, @ChelmsfordSci !! We hope everyone enjoyed their visit, and thanks for stopping by the Dean’s Office! @RossLabUML @UMassLowell
Also I’m presenting our work on Wednesday! Come learn about post-transition metals and plasmonics! #ACSSpring2022
