The piece missed when taking about the problems with grades, is they provide the main communication to parents. I want to hear more about new ways of communicating that welcome parents as partners. We often underestimate them as allies.
This month I unintentionally scheduled an overwhelming amount of things. One of our staff members came to point it out to me and so I canceled and moved a lot of the things. This is what I want. A staff who feels comfortable letting me know how to do better for them.

We spend over $8 Billion dollars a year on teacher attrition (turnover) and probably more this year. Imagine if we spent the money on actually trying to retain teachers instead.
