Everyone seems to be loving the "animal prints in Roman tiles" today, so we're going to post this. AGAIN. We don't care how often you've seen it. And let's face it, neither do you.

Whoooaa! It's only a Roman padlock, found at the Palace during the 1960s dig. How cool is that? It gets cooler 👇

Who is this first year Latin student, and do they want a job?

A complete set of Roman gods playing cards, created by a first year Latin student. I’m not sure where he found the illustrations, but they are pretty great. 1/2

14 Oct 1066: the first blows of the Battle of Hastings are struck at around 9 o'clock in the morning—King Harold's men hold a defensive position on a hill near Senlac or Sandlake. They are possibly outnumbered and face cavalry for the first time. #BattleOfHastings #OnThisDay #OTD

Something different for today’s #FindsFriday: a lockdown-born blog by ASE archaeologist Lorna Webb on early medieval medicine. What cures for common ailments can be found in texts like Bald’s Leechbook (9/10th century) – and would they have been effective? ucl.ac.uk/archaeology-so…

Wow. What a first day of re-opening! Massive thanks to everyone who showed up to support us and to enjoy the Palace again. And for being so understanding and accommodating. Great to feel the buzz of visitors again. We love you all. ...is that something in my eye...? 🥲
