I am not a polemicist by nature or character. I woke up to it when I saw my home-town, a jewel of architecture, urbanism and landscaping, wrecked by false ideas of modernity. The beautiful townhouse I grew up in is replaced by an elephantine and vulgar office complex.

Very saddened to have learned of the death of Jaquelin T. Robertson, one of New York’s great architects and advocates of urban design. Under John Lindsay he developed the Urban Design Group and interpreted architecture as public service; later, he designed magnificent houses.
