Question on leadership for #triplive: you’ve said before that the way the PM conducts themselves influences how the whole government/civil service behaves. How does this work? What is it about some leaders that make sensible, professional people behave unprofessionally?

I’m supervising my first trainee clinical psychologist today. Very excited about it and keen to make this placement a good one. Any top tips from current or former trainees?

Could be wrong but wasn’t this the cornerstone of the government’s policy for improving mental health in children and young people? bbc.co.uk/news/health-62…

Took the opportunity to visit @bethlemmuseum on my lunch break today. Among the brilliant exhibits, I was particularly struck by the two paintings by the late Charlotte Johnson Wahl (Boris Johnson’s mother), painted in the 70s when the was an inpatient at Maudsley Hospital.

Had a question from a junior colleague about the term “emotionally unstable personality disorder” and I thought I’d ask the mental health community. What do you think of the term? Better than “borderline”? If you’ve been diagnosed, how did you first respond to the label?

Having an ethical debate with colleagues over lunch. If you needed healthcare, would it be appropriate for your clinical team to look you up on social media to find out about you? To be clear: I’ve never done this and I’m not planning on it, just curious about people’s thoughts.

Neuropsych peeps: can we all just agree that the Test of Everyday Attention is helpful but hideously outdated, and then can someone cleverer than me set to work on a revised version? Many thanks.

As someone who struggles with poor attention, I can be easily distracted by my phone find it hard to concentrate on zoom meetings. Thought this article was food for thought (and ironically I read it on my phone). bbc.co.uk/news/technolog…

Happy Easter! Here’s an old but very interesting New Yorker article about how our brains perceive sensations such as itchiness or pain, even when there’s nothing physical to cause it. A great long read to enjoy over your chocolatey breakfast. newyorker.com/magazine/2008/…

Just heard the very sad news that Barry Mason passed away on the weekend. I never met him but his work has had a significant influence on my own practice: so much so that my Twitter handle is taken from his seminal paper. ift.org.uk/news/rememberi…

Just had my #CovidVaccination. Very impressed with the smooth process. The NHS at its absolute finest. I was also served a cup of tea by British Airways staff, which was a pleasant surprise. Please, everyone, get your jab when it’s offered.

This is a brilliant (and I stress BRILLIANT) summary on why we all feel awful right now and what we can do to survive #lockdown2uk from my lovely friend @DrShreeUnadkat.

As COVID-19 cases (and lockdowns) rise again, remember that your feelings are likely normal and shared by those around you You may even have managed 'okay' when the pandemic started, but are starting to struggle now Let’s have a think about why this may be the case (Thread 👇)
