In 94.2% of the cases, the offender was known to the victim. What is even more alarming is that the rate of #crime registered per 100,000 women is increasing, having gone up from 58.8 in 2018 to 62.4 in 2019.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau, 32,260 women and girls were reportedly raped in #India in 2019. That is about 88 reported cases every day. Of these, 4,977 were below 18 years of age.
