Honoring those who died on 9/11 and US citizens and allies because of it.

Good for Police Commishioner Gross to meet with AG Barr, not because he agreed with him, but because he disagreed with him and was able to talk to the AG of the U.S. That is the example you set in promoting community policing. #bospoli

Rembering Robert L. Beal for his years of service to the @ResearchBureau1, serving in many capacities as a Director including Chairman. He was named a Shattuck City Champion in 2002 for his contributions to the Boston community. May he Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory. #bospoli

A sobering thought - a 2019 Pew study found that 55% of Americans get their news from social media. Democracy depends on an informed electorate based on facts, not an algorithm that feeds back what you like and reinforces the reader’s political beliefs. #bospoli

As she steps down as Pres.& CEO of MASCO after 16 years, congratulations to Marilyn Swartz-Lloyd for her effective leadership in coordinating the 24 nonprofit institutions in providing efficient services for the Longwood Medical Area. @MASCOLMA #bospoli.

Congratulations to Paul Grogan for his leadership over 19 years as Pres. and CEO of The Boston Foundation. During his tenure TBF became more active in driving public policy issues over a wide range of important topics for Boston and the Commonwealth. @bostonfdn #bospoli

Thanks to Dave Sweeney for his service to @CityOfBoston as CFO and Mayor’s Chief of Staff over six years. Best wishes as next Pres. and CFO at MASCO. Welcome to the nonprofit world. #bospoli

The work of the SC Nom. Panel is a public process. The SC Sec. and BPS website provide notice and info on process. All Panel meetings are posted and public. The public can view interviews with candidates and selection of 3-5 candidates for each open seat. #bospoli @BostonSchools

For those who think BPS parents are not involved in the Boston SC nom. process, you should know that 4 parents sit on the panel. They are reps of: Citywide Parent Council, Parent Organizing Network, Sp. Needs Parent Advisory Council, Bilingual MasterPAC. #bospoli @BostonSchools

9 or 70% of the Boston SC Nom.Panel represent parent, school union, higher education and business groups/offices. The Chair now is a BPS teacher elected by the 13. The Panel submits 3-5 names for each open position and the Mayor must choose one. #bospoli @BostonSchools

Boston School Committee Nominating Panel consists of 13 members with 9 representing parent, union, higher education groups and business. Mayor appoints only 4 members and Chair is elected by the 13. Nomination requests are publicized on BPS website. #bospoli @BostonSchools

The beating heart of the #StudentOpportunityAct is not accountability or punitive measures, but rather real equality of opportunity. This bill is about every child in the Commonwealth. commonwealthmagazine.org/education/mass…
