Question for @JudiG & @CllrSimonHogg - will you urgently agree to stop the shameful Tory led plans to sell off part of Tooting Common Triangle (Common Land) to a sports developer for commercial gain? Exclusionary, bad for residents & the environment. @balhamnewsie @tootingnewsie
Rather less Instagramable, but @SaveOurTriangle's campaign to prevent a pay-to-play astroturf pitch being built on Tooting Common deals with the same basic issues about public space and who gives permission for it to be partitioned.
Why has @TootingCommon blocked us? The Friends of Tooting Common don't want us to see what they are saying.
Big miscalculation by @wandbc ? There's such opposition to its plan for a commercial operator to fence off part of #Tooting Bec Common and charge for its use that the Sec of State has ordered a public inquiry. This is common land, it must remain public & accessible #stopthesteal

Friends of Tooting Common @TootingCommon members opposed to @wandbc enclosure and privatisation at the Triangle Field outnumber those in favour 17 to 3, with the rest don't knows - but the leadership are sitting on the fence, telling a government inspector members are undecided

Astonishing that @TootingCommon ("Friends" of Tooting Common apparently) don't seem to fully appreciate, or care about, the impact this proposal will have on the areas next to the noisy floodlit enclosure
