Quick update to this story: The D.C. Board of Elections will hold another meeting on Friday at 2 p.m. on whether a ballot initiative on ranked choice voting and open primaries could actually be placed on the ballot. They could announce a decision then. dcist.com/story/23/07/18…

Party officials are pushing to derail a proposed ballot initiative that would allow D.C. residents to decide whether to adopt ranked choice voting.
When explaining RCV, either u use a good visual like this, OR just explain it from the VOTER PERSPECTIVE: "Vote for your favorite and rank your backup choices. If your first choice is in last place, your vote moves to your next choice. A candidates wins when they get >50%."
