I hope to not use paper cards in the future but for now, they are the bomb.
I went without cards for a few years, but recently gave up and printed more. There is just nothing easier or more “cross platform" than handing someone a piece of paper.
I’m skeptical that any platform will come about and completely replace cards - just like it’s near impossible to ever kill email
Only about 40% of the people I encountered at SXSW had cards on hand. And upon asking to exchange cards, that 40% noted the they had none with regret and a hint of chagrin. Cards matter, until there is a definitive, prolifically embraced alternative.
I agree. Somethings don’t need to be replaced. A handshake and card mean something. Digital anything can just get filed away and forgotten.
I still like cards because you can write on them to share quick notes/references that you mentioned in conversation. Then they have it and don’t have to remember (Post-its work for this too, but they tend to get lost more)
