Okay. NOW it's infrastructure week!

U.S. infrastructure is at a crossroads. Do we invest in the cleaner, safer systems of the future or keep pouring $$ into an outdated, crumbling system? The answer is easy for @TransportDems, who are ready to move forward in a big way. Next stop, hearing from @SecretaryPete.

America can have the best infrastructure in the world, if we choose to. It's up to us.

“Can you build a tunnel under a highway in one weekend?” is a good litmus test for state capacity. (The Netherlands passes, the US does not).

“It is time to get out of the 1950s and move forward on a transformational infrastructure bill that puts millions of people to work building the infrastructure of the 21st century and beyond all while putting our country on a path toward zero pollution.”

@TransportDems Chair @RepPeterDeFazio on today’s meeting at the @WhiteHouse: "It is a critically important conversation to have, and timely as I intend to move a surface transportation reauthorization bill through the Committee this spring." transportation.house.gov/news/press-rel…

I started working by bussing tables at the Star Family Restaurant for $1/hour & slowly moved up to cook – the big leagues for a kid like me– to earn $6/hour. Businesses in small towns survive on narrow margins. Mandating a $15 minimum wage would put many of them out of business.

Just so we’re clear, this week alone, #FederalRegulations saved the life of every passenger on board #United328 & #TigerWoods, while #DEregulation practically killed the entire state of #Texas. Vote accordingly.

Are we becoming less prejudiced as a country? On @TODAYshow this morning, we profiled @banaji and her work measuring more than a decade of bias in tens of millions of people. She and her colleague @TesCharlesworth have essentially taken the pulse of prejudice in America.

This looks cool, literally and figuratively.

A French police helicopter traveled 7,000 feet up a windy mountainside, getting inches from the snowy slope, in an effort to rescue an injured skier. Unbelievable flying and skill by the pilot. 👏🚁

Restoring scientific integrity to federal science agencies. Thank you @POTUS

NEW: In indirect rebuke of Trump, Biden orders new, sweeping review of federal scientific integrity policies, including documenting cases of improper political interference in research. Agencies could recreate science advisory panels disbanded by Trump. sciencemag.org/news/2021/01/n…

Thank you @WilliamJMcGee for your advocacy and noting that after Secretary Chao resigns, DOT unveils rules for long awaited airline passenger protections. @PeteButtigieg

DOT Secretary Elaine Chao has left office, but new airline passenger protections were just unveiled. In 2017, I testified before Congress post-"Dr. Dao incident" and we asked for restrictions on airlines. Today rules were entered into the Federal Register. advocacy.consumerreports.org/press_release/…

In 1923, Adolf Hitler led a failed coup. He was treated leniently. Germany moved on. A decade later, he was dictator, and the worst disaster in the history of the civilized world ensued. In 2021, when the president of the United States leads a failed coup, we must not move on.

As we wait for the next big drop of results from Georgia, consider this - 48,711 Black voters who didn't vote in the general election cast an early vote in this runoff. It is fairly safe to say that the margin in both races will be smaller than this number.
