When middle aged women bring their “whole self to work”. Invisibility and dismissal of struggle captured so beautifully here, along with the ageism too many middle aged women just have to live with. #ActingYourAgeCampaign #DontCastHerOut #RiotWomen
So many lives ruined & on hold. It’s the post office scandal mark 2 except instead of wrongful convictions people having their homes repossessed. @AngelaRayner & her cohort seem not to care one iota as they merrily get on with other projects. @UKLabour @LucyMPowell @mtpennycook
Why is no one in Government listening to the desperate situation caused by U.K. Lenders choosing to ignore the @RICSnews guidelines on the EWS1 form. People are losing their homes @NatWest_Help @TSB @HalifaxBank This a HUGE issue @BBCNews
If you own a flat, if you have a mortgage you need to know this happening. Flats are being rendered WORTHLESS by a lack of communication between @RICSnews, UK Lenders and our government.

✍️ "In one of last year’s findings, involving dangerous cladding, the ombudsman noted that it had taken 24 emails and an intervention by the local MP before Peabody responded to the issue." When will @AngelaRayner hold housing associations to account? theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
I'm part of a group of Labour MPs who have raised concerns about the way managing agents like RMG are treating leaseholders. Following a recent meeting, we've written to them to outline our clear expectations around how they must improve services for residents. 👇
Myself and @RNBlake have convened a group of Labour MPs who are deeply concerned about the way managing agents like RMG are treating leaseholders. Following our meeting with RMG in Parliament, 30 MPs signed our follow-up letter setting out clear steps to delivering better…
And it’s not even a good grad tax: the rich can buy their way out of it by not taking out the loans in the first place. Therefore grads from poorer families end up with a de facto higher rate of income tax than richer ones.
It was an immense strategic victory for the coalition government to call them tuition fees, rather than a 15% graduate income tax. Because people now genuinely argue we have among the lowest income tax of big economies
8. Gove was right to take on leasehold, and he has put right some of inquities. It is incumbant on Labour to speed up this process and put an end to this utterly abhorent system of servitude.
Meanwhile. When can 100Ks’ innocent people throughout UK expect to start living in safe homes. #NotJustCladding #WeAreTrapped Why does the govt allow such a category as non-qualifying leaseholders. BSF. NOBODY should be paying for others’ failures. Period.
While Labour’s Leasehold reforms offer promise for future occupiers, they do nothing for 5 million+ trapped in existing flats. Freeholders can legally demand huge cash sums for services that may not have even been delivered. This must change. Now! thetimes.com/article/b6b3bb…
Some of us still waiting for remediation. Can you imagine our pain of watching new building programme? Developers pledges not acted on. When will @mhclg make them honour pledges @mtpennycook? Or are they needed for new building programme. Now there’s the lever! @EOCS_Official
COMMONHOLD FOR THE MANY, NOT JUST THE NEW ✍️ We’re in @thetimes today. @UKLabour mustn’t sacrifice existing leaseholders to juice the new-builds market. The commonhold white paper leaves many excluded. We have some policy ideas to help avoid this: thetimes.com/life-style/pro…
MP lays out plans for leaseholders. Whenever Insurance is mentioned it’s all about fees & commissions. @mtpennycook we want you to grasp the profiteering of insurers & that we pay around £1600 a year with prohibitive excesses. Please underwrite. @EOCS_Official
There are many leaseholders forced into subletting and becoming involuntary landlords due to leasehold scandal/building safety crisis, trapping them tied to homes they no longer need/want and can't be sold. I know many. The narrative that all LLs are exploitative can be divisive.
L'holders suffered untold stress buying flats in good faith that were riddled with serious fire safety failings. Now thousands can't sell because their EWS1 certificates were falsified. The government must get a grip and prosecute to send a clear message. thetimes.com/article/2147ac…
Lives ruined @mhclg @Conservatives Please sort @mtpennycook @AngelaRayner
Hi Harry / Lewis, Continue your excellent work in exposing the national scandal of Leasehold which has brought financial stress and adversely impacted health (including mental well being) for many individuals.
“We believe we should be back at the heart of Europe but... that's a long way off" Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey says the UK could "turbocharge" its relationship with the EU if Keir Starmer opened negotiations for a customs union
