In honor of Black History Month, students listened to the story, "Trombone Shorty" and completed a Frayer Model of comprehension questions. The Frayer Model is a great tool to use in all subject areas for not only vocabulary but comprehension questions, facts and equations.
Listening to short stories by Xavier Garza and working on a "thin slide" to represent the conflict the character faced in the story. (one pic/one word) Thin/thick slides are a great way to encourage students to think abt the overall theme or characters in the story.

Seahawks are celebrating World Read Aloud Day w/ the book, "The Oldest Student How Mary Walker Learned to Read." An inspiring story of how Mary Walker never gave up despite many setbacks and learned to read at the age of 116! Such an amazing story!!! #WorldReadAloudDay
