What a fascinating find! To put the lamp into perspective, here is a shot of miners wearing them down the Westwood Pit, c.1940. scottishshale.co.uk/files/4126/
November's Object of the Month is this miner's mash hammer. This heavy hammer, with one square face and a narrower nose, was used in Westwood Pit, probably for setting props and hammering in wedges. The owner's initials "JC" have been formed in a raised run of weld. c.1950
