As a #doula what do you do when you aren’t connecting with a client?
Once my husband pointed this out then the attendant proceeded to measure the little girl… only after WE pointed it out. While not trying to ruin another family’s fun we could not bare our child being singled out and unfairly at that!!!!! @GreatWolfLodge
Timothy and Natalie (attendants) were so adamant about not allowing my child to access the slides that another little girl (white) was allowed to use the slides… she was much smaller than my son. Out of respect I did not record her. But I’m sure cameras will show it.
Fast forward to Monday: this photo was taken at 9:40 am. We were very intentional to be at the water park soon after it opened but to be told minutes after taking this pic that RJ could not get on the slides. @GreatWolfLodge
Sunday 7:16pm STILL going. & peep the ride attendantS, who also measured him!!!!! We literally stayed until the parked closed. @GreatWolfLodge
Sunday 6:09 pm… still going. They spent hour on those slides (and each time dad or I was there at the bottom waiting for him) @GreatWolfLodge
Sunday 6:07 pm (still having fun, measured 2x by 2 different ppl by this time… still allowed to play)

I’ve never felt the need to turn to any social media outlet for anything like this but I felt and still do feel so incredibly let down by the way my family was treated. My 5 year old daughter said out of her own mouth “mommy why are they being mean to us” @GreatWolfLodge
As I’m walking back to my room to check out hours earlier than expected…ON MY SON’S BIRTHDAY due to feeling embarrassed and defeated I’m met with another black woman in the elevator and her young child who she too felt was treated different than other children during their stay.
My son was measured 4 times for the water slides in the kiddie area on Sunday. Being cleared by all 4 members who measured him. The next morning he’s measured… again… but this time met with disapproval and not allowed to proceed to play as he did the day prior @GreatWolfLodge
I will definitely be sharing my horrible experience at @GreatWolfLodge Manteca this past weekend. Thank goodness for @WaterworldCalif for turning the day around for my family and allowing my son to enjoy his 2nd birthday WITHOUT being discriminated against.

There should be a segment of the BET awards where Black Birth Workers are acknowledged. There are some amazing people & organizations fighting against the disparities that STILL affect Black women & babies. Black Midwives, Doulas, etc., represent black excellence too! #BETAwards
