As ever… it’s the MUSIC that makes the Coronation. Let’s remember that this is down to the utter brilliance of all the musicians involved in today’s ceremony…
Take away the spellbinding music and our extraordinary, world-class musicians, today really is MAN IN HAT SITS IN CHAIR. As our last 5 PMs (6 if you count the lettuce) sat basking in the reflected glory of this mass of talent, worth remembering they did this to arts funding:
As I stroll on TikTok, I keep seeing parents video their children reacting to The Little Mermaid trailer. So instead of focusing so much on the negative, I thought I’d show a thread of the little black kids who are excited to see their favorite princess look like them.
Impressive from Angela Rayner "My advice to the deputy prime minister is to cut out the snobbery & brush up on his opera. The Marriage of Figaro is the story of a working-class woman who gets the better of a privileged but dim-witted villain."
⚡️Fundraising concert in the U.K. raises £11.3 million for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The lineup included Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, and Jamala, Eurovision 2016 winner representing Ukraine, who sang “1944,” about the forced deportation of Crimean Tatars by the Soviet Union.

If you’re lucky enough to get a ticket for the final, please, please don’t boo the Italian anthem. A/ It’s an absolute belter and worth listening to. B/ It’s bloody rude, disrespectful and utterly classless.
Class.
Congratulations England. Much deserved victory. Wishing you all the best in this tournament. We will have to build a new team. This great competition between 🏴 and 🇩🇪will continue.
Boris: ‘how much more of this? Come on.’ Channel 4 news deciding to keep the mics on 👏👏
Here’s a true story... The government, March 2020: The arts aren’t viable & we can’t support you. Best get another job. The government, May 2021: Are you available to sing at the Prime Minister’s wedding? My friend, May 2021: No, I’m driving a delivery van for @Tesco
In these strange times, a regular member of Westminster Cathedral choir, whose freelance work was deemed "unviable" by the govt (position: retrain rather than receive financial support) was y'day unavailable to sing for the PM's wedding as he was busy, driving a delivery truck.
Pop-up vaccination clinics for those not registered with the NHS #CovidVaccine #COVID19
Addiction is already a huge problem in the music community; musicians also face elevated rates of depression and anxiety and the combination of isolation and economic insecurity hasn't helped. If you're struggling, you're not alone. Help is available.
Our singers have been busy recording their parts individually with #NigelShort for #Tallis #SpeminAlium with @IsolationChoir - including the wonderful @violabloke ANYONE can join this online choir, to learn and record as many of the 40 parts as you like! theselfisolationchoir.com/spem-in-alium
Absolutely gutted our responsibly planned and risk-assessed return to live rehearsing this eve scuppered by @DCMS utter failure to update performing arts guidance despite months of notice. We can sing at a football match, wedding or restaurant but not spaced out in a huge church.
36 and 37 year olds in England will be able to book a vaccination from tomorrow
