Around 6pm, a 911 caller reported an uncontrolled fire in Sarona Township. Upon arrival, SLFD command located the smoke the caller saw on an island. In conjunction with the @WDNR we launched our RDC to investigate and determined it was a probable lightning strike
We had a couple of sprinkles this morning but the fire danger remains high across northwest Wisconsin. Remember to always check the DNR's WISBURN website prior to burning: apps.dnr.wi.gov/wisburn/
Shell Lake Fire got to use our extrication tools Monday night for our annual training. Our thanks to Jock’s Auto and Truck Repair for letting us cut some cars up.
This afternoon, Shell Lake Fire responded to Glenview for a surprise parade for one of their residents who turned 100!
Tonight, Shell Lake Fire attended Electric Vehicle Training for First Responders hosted by Barron Electric. We had the opportunity to learn about the dangers of electric vehicle fires and how to extinguish them. It was a really great training!
Monday night, SLFD conducted training on our Engines and water sites. At a minimum of twice a year, we have all members of our department operate our Engines under several different pumping scenarios including rural and city fires.
The Shell Lake Fire Department has provided emergency response to the Shell Lake area since 1898 (124 years)! The men and women that have and still serve this community are some of the most unselfish people I have ever met. Day or night, good or bad weat… ift.tt/0IVKPzjcT
