Show is all packed and ready for load-in. Last rehearsal is in progress. First performance at Hartford Fringe Fest is Sunday. My back still hurts from loading in and out Wednesday’s tech rehearsal. Glad it will be the younger folks doing the heavy lifting.
My mother’s wake was yesterday. For one short weekend our extended family was together. How stupid is it that we live so far apart that years pass by without us seeing each other.
Doing a memorial type lunch/wake/reception thing for my mom this weekend. It’s kind of stressing me out. Thought we would be able to use the refrigerator at the site, but found out we can’t. Now trying to source ice and bins to keep things cold.
Recently realized that most of the “Stranger Things” fans that I know, have never known a person with a number tattooed on their arm, so their emotional reaction to seeing it in the show is quite different from mine. To me it is like a punch in the gut.
Planning a 40 person memorial luncheon for my mom is hard. People have so many food related emotions and memories. Everyone has feelings & opinions. Except for the ones who say they don’t, until they do.
I keep forgetting my mom is gone. It’s made me realize how often I think about her - things I want to tell her, show her, ask her, but also how she would disapprove of things, like my unswept floor or the dishes in my sink. It’s like a little electric shock when I remember.
My mom had like 2000 followers on Facebook. Since her passing, I’ve received many messages from them, which is very kind, but they all say stuff about her being an angel in heaven watching over me, which is just weird to me. She was like “Peace Out” and was done with it all.
Today I had to explain to management that it is not possible to write code that detects if a user didn’t read the warning in the dialogue box, and clicks the continue button out of habit, when they really should have clicked the cancel button.
I am emotionally and cognitively overdrawn. I keep thinking I’ll eventually be in the black again, but it just isn’t happening.
