Sharing a great piece of advice when it comes to relationships (platonic or romantic). Form yourself into a magnet, not a door to door salesman. Enrich your lived experience. Instead of seeking connection 1st, seek education & exploration. Become a magnet & connection follows.

When we’re all wading through divisive discourse, it’s an act of humanity to respond to opposing views with curiosity instead of judgment. Ask more questions. Be open to lived experiences and grey areas that you hadn’t considered.

Attending the CIS Generative AI “Unconference”. Educators and educational leaders reimagining education, how it will evolve, how we will evolve with it & how it will push our field to more deeply value practices that foster human connection (e.g. conversations, character dev.)

I met incredible leaders in education from around the world this weekend, & it still boggles my mind that we share an IB pedagogical language and approach & how universally we all care about what we do & the communities we serve. #IBGC2023@LeoBaeckDS

I can’t express how significantly A.I. will alter the teaching profession. Here’s a glass 1/2 full view. This will be a tool that will reduce the admin & leave educators to the most “human” aspects of teaching: relationships, critical thinking and empathy. #IBGC2023 @LeoBaeckDS

Education systems don’t prep children for the future. Our children create it. Ed systems should teach them to be good creators of the future (Yong Zhao). With this in mind, we need to keep shifting to more SEL, student-centred, skills-based/less content-based learning.

If you haven’t already heard of @ADFRNTBooklist, check it out! This is a valuable literature resource for schools, especially IB, who are looking to provide a balance of “mirrors” (their own culture/experience) and “windows” (other cultures/experiences). adifferentbooklist.com/schools-and-sc…

This might be a keeper for any schools that aim to create a social justice scope and sequence. The SPLC created one already and it's pretty fab. learningforjustice.org/sites/default/…

Many amazing conversations about shifting practice/culture/mindset have died tragically after someone says, “but that’s how we’ve always done things”.

What Stands Out About Adaptive Orgs/Leaders: 1.Openness-listen to stakeholders, proactive, curious/inquiring, 2.Strong Sense of Identity- value self-study/eval/review, use it to inform direction, 3.Empowerment- tap into talents, empower others -S. Camby #IBVirtual @LeoBaeckDS

As the use of A.I. and the “machine age” continues to permeate teaching, educators and education systems need to move their focus to teaching students the skills to be better humans; creative and critical thinking, collaborative, compassionate beings. - Jos Dirkx #IBVirtual

Finding that teachers are feeling extra stressed at the start of this in-person school year? Perhaps we need to have conversations about the effects of remote learning on teacher development as well. How have months teaching outside physical classrooms affected them?

How do we teach graphing (math) or about analyzing graphical statistics (social studies, science, etc) while fostering deeper, more critical thinking? Check this out! slowrevealgraphs.com
