Caitlyn was enjoying her day off with some tea and a good book.
“Oh, have you been gone as well?” Her smile turned warm, “As have I.”
"It seems we both returned at the right time. I've missed you."
She let out a small laugh, shaking her head slightly at the teasing comment. “Oh, the same old dance, my friend. Trying to keep the order as best as we can. Vi is doing a double today so that I can at least have a day off. How about you? Any new inventions or ideas?”
[He chuckled and smiled at her] "It's been forever, Cait. I half expected you to have grown into a giant by this point." [He reached a hand out, measuring the top of her head] "Still just barely shorter than me though Hahaha. How have you been?"
“A lovely morning to you, as well!”
“Jayce! I feel like it’s been ages!”
“Sometimes I prefer the quietness. My thoughts are the only company I need.”
Caitlyn shook her head as she slid an arm around Vi’s waist, the two of them making their way to the break room. “That doesn’t mean we aren’t allowed a wee break, darling. The quality of our work might suffer.” “We’ll have our off days once we get through this. It’s worth it.”
“A break? You sure? Aren’t we a little busy for a break?” She asked before she was lightly dragged onto her feet. As she followed Caitlyn, Vi would wrap her arm around her and nod. “Yeah. Coffee could do me some good.” She said as she stretched a little and rotated her shoulder
“How about a break? Coffee or tea?” She then asked, taking Vi by the arm and softly urging her to her feet. At work, she wasn’t as affectionate so as not to show bias in front of her Wardens, but given that they were alone at the precinct. “Let’s stretch those legs.”
For a moment Vi was going to comment about Caitlyn laughing at her but before she could, Cait kissed her scar and she went quiet. Though she did speak after Caitlyn commented about the work. “Yeah you’re not wrong, being here with you does make this work more bearable.”
A bubble of soft laughter left Caitlyn’s lips before she moved to grant Vi another kiss, this time, over that tiny scar of hers. “It could be better, but not at all terrible. Because I have you, darling.” The Sheriff moved to brush Vi’s hair back, smiling softly.
Vi was half asleep as she stared lazily at her paperwork. That was until Caitlyn kissed her cheek and caused her to sit up. “I’m awake!” She shouted before rubbing her face. “Oh hey babe, how’s your paper work going? I think I’ve got like…a hundred pages left.”
