Every model in the CGI series was numbered. Only three are known (Thomas 0, Charlie 14, and Ryan 29?) This is why Rusty appears instead of Duck in Journey Beyond Sodor. Duck was meant to appear, but the animator simply made a typo by one digit. I found more examples of this...

There’s a scrap Thomas because casts were made for the resin model. There’s a scrap Donald because casts were made for Douglas. There’s a scrap Gordon because casts were made for… Oh my.

New theory: For Season 3, the original model (notice the smokebox seam) was sanded down for new casts. The scrap models are failed casts (implying multiple Gordon and Donald/Douglas models?) Doesn't explain the brass funnel... did this model get one earlier than we think?

The TATMR crew gift models don’t have the removable dome. They used the brass model. It’s all but confirmed. The original Thomas was ripped to pieces to make the Great Discovery brass models.

1. The original Thomas was completely taken apart to make the Great Discovery brass models. 2. There are two perspex models. 3. This is a cast (they may have cut this model’s cab off for the casts that we know about for all we know…)
