Wow! This is an absolutely fantastic example of how NOT to log an issue on a GitHub repo! github.com/sveltejs/kit/i…
Who is giving advice to people to post in GitHub issues of projects they’ve never contributed to and ask maintainers to assign the issue to them? I’ve seen it often enough that it cannot just be individuals having a misconception. Does any FOSS project actually do this?
A FOSS tale in 3 acts Act 1: Maintainer of popular project from large company (name rhymes with froogle) opens a bug report on one of my smaller libraries, mentioning their project is considering using my lib. Yay, great news! 🎉Love my code being used on larger tools!
TL;DR: "I run an unsupported set of things... now it doesn't work... fix it..." Well... no? It's unsupported. Leading up to this email right before my morning coffee. Good morning fun world of open source. So motivated now... 😞
Even a global pandemic won't stop the #ChoosingBeggars of OSS @ShitOSSDevsHear tl;dr: I'm one version behind on updating my project due to personal life changes in the COVID-19 era and entitled guy is entitled
In today's episode of @ShitOSSDevsHear, we learn that asking for a reduced testcase is "arrogant". 🤐
In today's issue of @ShitOSSDevsHear - sliding into my DMs with a stack trace. Don't do this kids, there's an issue tracker on Github for a reason
Another day in Lea’s Github. 😂 cc @ShitOSSDevsHear From: github.com/LeaVerou/aweso…
Another day at Awesomplete’s Github issues…🤔 /cc @ShitOSSDevsHear
Today’s episode of @ShitOSSDevsHear: A guy commented on an unmerged PR from 2013 on @prefixfree to exclaim that "the project was not really maintained anymore" (clearly, I missed that memo!). No, he was not the person that opened the PR (who would have every right to complain!).
I think a guy just had a meltdown and rage quit the Web in a Github issue in one of my repos 🤔🤷🏼♀️ github.com/LeaVerou/aweso… (His original comments included a lot of profanity, but he has now deleted one and edited the other)
@ShitOSSDevsHear Yes god forbid you open a book to learn something so you yourself can contribute to open source, work for free, and then get people complain to you that you haven't yet implemented their requested feature of niche use case
The same team called me a bad developer in a meeting for developing in OSS. That by nature of being open source, my code was not secure.
@shitossdevshear the one I heard that stings is "We should replace your 5 years OSS project with this new unproven proprietary software because we just procured it.
"Wow it's insane how much a poorly designed module can ruin your whole project." via @jon_neal github.com/necolas/normal…

Installing this broke my webpack react config · Issue #719 · necolas/normalize.css
Basically my webpack config was running smoothly until I decided to npm install this package. All I did was shut down my dev server, npm install this, then run it again. THen everything broke. I tr...
Ugh, more verbal abuse on @Github. Why do people feel the need to do this? How common is this? And why am I a spaghetti?
Today’s episode of Shit Open Source Maintainers Hear: “You ask too much questions which have simple answers, I am just here to give my developer opinion. If you want to deliver poor software, I will not help anymore.” (Man, I should start a twitter account with such quotes)
Shit open source maintainers hear: ”I really appreciate the effort you have made in producing this tool - unlike […] it looks really professional which, coupled with the donate button, gives the user a feeling of confidence - unfortunately this seems misplaced at the moment."
