@SignClasses this is very true. I have a client that speaks but is deaf in both ears.
FACT: There's ABSOLUTELY NO correlation between physical production of speech and intelligence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most deaf couples have hearing children (90%). Most deaf children have hearing parents(90%).
The prevalence of severe 2 profound deafness in developed societies is estimated 2 b about 0.1% of the population (about 1 in 1000 people)
How many ppl could say "Hello how r you" in another language? MOST! How many ppl could sign to somebody "hello How r you"??????? NOT MANY!

Small % of Aussies r severely or profoundly deaf. A No.of signing deaf ppl in OZ is unknown research suggests that about 6500 ppl use Auslan

Auslan was not invented by 1 person hearing or deaf! Language spoken or signed grows & develops in response to the communication needs
