Such sad news. I remember reading V in the @LRB about a million years ago and being astonished by the craft and vision and skill. He was the true voice.
We are so sad to hear of the death of Tony Harrison. His work combines inspired poetic flight with demotic energy and a mastery of form. A towering figure, Faber has been publishing his work for stage and screen for over forty years. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
I've just started reading this by @elisabeth04liz. Like her, I suspect, I've been fascinated by the du Maurier/Barrie relationship for years. The Mischief Makers is really excellent: so assured and fluid. I'm really enjoying it.
We first told you about The Mischief Makers by @elisabeth04liz when it was published last autumn. This exciting novel, which has been described as a reimagining of the life of Daphne du Maurier and her curious association with J.M. Barrie, is now available in paperback.
Lovely. I read all 12 novels during the summer of 1982 when I had a job as a porter in the gifts department of Harrods. I had my own little cubbyhole in the basement and was occasionally roused to wrap up a musical cottage to be posted to Texas. The rest of the day, I read Dance.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of the final volume of A Dance to the Music of Time. It's a great pleasure to revisit it for @spectator ... spectator.co.uk/article/why-a-…

Good question.
Ordered a new copy of the Penguin paperback of Vineland. It came from the print on demand place. Is every publisher doing this now?
I love the stories in Jeremy Lewis's brilliant biography of Allen Lane of the three brothers, who lived together in the same house in the early days of the press, all in the bathroom each morning doing their ablutions. And on Friday's, drinking rioja and going through submissions
