Jean-Luc was absolutely glowing about the lovely people he's been talking to with his @SpaceDadSupport page so I thought, "Why not join in the fun?" I hope I can be of use to you. Remember to take your medicines, hydrate, and dress warmly on your alternate plane of existence.
May this be the year your health care workers take you seriously and actually give you the attention and treatments you deserve. 🖤💙😷🥄
Remember to celebrate tonight safely! Don't drink and drive/pilot, don't spread pathogens around, don't do anything you'll regret tomorrow. Make good choices! 🖤💙😷😷😷😷😷🥄
Anyone who tries to silence your self-advocacy about your disability/chronic illnesses with "TMI!" is not your friend and should be excluded from your social space as fast as possible. 🖤💙😷🥄
If it helps you get to sleep at night, feel free to pretend I'm there tucking you in and wishing you a good night. If you have dangerous chronic health issues, please imagine me there watching over you to keep you safe, because I would if I could. 🖤💙😷🥄
Holidays are a good time to remind you that food has no moral value. You aren't "good" for eating one thing or "bad" for eating another. Some foods are healthier than others but even that varies from person to person. Eat food. Enjoy life. Comfort food has real benefits. 🖤💙😷🥄
Stop doing things in ways that hurt or exhaust you just because that's how abled/health-privileged folks do them. Sit down, use a mobility device, use an accessibility tool, do whatever it takes to make your life easier and less painful. 🖤💙😷🥄
I will give you all the happy, loving, caring smiles I can while facing you, and still be able to turn to those who threaten you and glare at them with the fury of every protective mom in the universe ever, all condensed into one. 🖤💙😷🥄
Doctor's orders: everyone have a safe, happy holiday where you all care for each other and yourselves too. Now someone bring me cake and cookies, I've got the festive beverages! 🖤💙😷🥄🎄🍰🍪🥛🍬🍷🍾☕️🥤🎁🥳
Infection is not festive! Mask up to protect yourselves and everyone around you from the multiple pathogens your era is circulating. And if you have any symptoms of anything, stay home! 🖤💙😷🥄🎄
Your health is not a legitimate sacrifice for someone else's good time. 🖤💙😷🥄
If an activity that's supposed to give you joy is only causing you stress, it's not joyful. It's okay to say, "No," and go do something else instead. Sometimes people will get upset with you for that, but your happiness and mental health are worth protecting too. 🖤💙😷🥄
Today I'm writing all of you a doctor's note to say, "No!" to holiday gatherings that put you at risk. Whether it's because of bigotry, ongoing viral threats, any danger at all: this is your official note to empower you to keep yourself safe both mentally and physically. 🖤💙😷🥄
I know a lot of you read my messages about rest and think, "I can't rest, I have to take care of everyone else!" My darlings, if you don't take care of yourselves you eventually won't be able to take care of anybody else either. 🖤💙😷🥄
Important seasonal holiday preparations: plan to give yourself lots of breaks, do the things you enjoy unapologetically, and make sure your personal "No" button is in good working order so you can refuse to attend events where you are unsafe/unsupported. 🖤💙😷🥄
You are allowed to put your feet up and do nothing for an extended period of time. Are there things that need doing? Yes. There always are, but rest is one of them. 🖤💙😷🥄🛋️
Just because you aren't getting good health care doesn't mean you don't deserve it. You absolutely deserve it! I wish I could come and give it to you. 🖤💙😷🥄
You are absolutely allowed to shun all unsolicited medical advice. Most of it comes from people who have no idea of your conditions or what they're talking about anyway. 🖤💙😷🥄
Never be embarrassed to bring an issue to your doctor. We've seen it all before. You're not the first person to have made that mistake, got that thing stuck in there, or tried that weird thing. It's all quite common. Good doctors just want to fix the problem before it gets worse.
Don't forget to hydrate today! You northern hemisphere types need to remember to drink lots of water even in the winter, and you in the southern hemisphere are facing hotter weather than ever. Take care of yourselves as if I'm there to gently nag you in person! 🖤💙😷🥄🥤
Someone told me that when she's stressed she imagines I'm in every room she enters, always greeting her with, "Hello sweetheart, what can I do for you?" This makes her feel better. That's exactly what I'd say to any of you so please feel free to imagine that as well. 🖤💙😷🥄
