Can plants grow on the surface of the moon? 🌛 🚀 @NASA's 2026 Artemis III mission will send humans to the moon with a payload of plant experiments, developed with the help of @lewseylab and @plants4space scientists. latrobe.edu.au/news/articles/…

Do you want to join the team to grow and research plants on the Moon? Space Lab has posted jobs! #Artemis #spacebiology #spaceplants #spacetechnology #LEAF spacelabtech.com/careers.html
Lunar Effects on Agricultural Flora (LEAF): Led by Principal Investigator Christine Escobar, of Space Lab Technologies, LLC, LEAF will investigate the lunar surface environment’s effects on space crops will help scientists understand the use of plants grown on the Moon for both…
In 1960, David Latimer planted a spiderwort sprout inside of a large glass bottle, added a quarter pint of water, and then sealed it shut. He opened the bottle 12 years later in 1972 to add some water and then sealed it for good. The self-contained ecosystem has flourished for…

The plant roots 🌱 represent @SpaceLabTech’s LilyPond hydroponics system that tests watering crops in space.
Many of you are familiar with the famous photo of the astronaut (Bruce McCandless II) floating alone above the Earth, which just happened to be taken 38 years ago today. Bruce took pictures too, and this was his view of the space shuttle Challenger while he was 98m (or so) away.

Standing down today due to a minor telemetry issue. We are giving the team time to complete a thorough review and will provide an update on the next launch opportunity for @NASA’s ELaNa 41 mission soon #AdAstra
We couldn’t be happier for the #MarsHelicopter team and our small-but-mighty rotorcraft to receive this award!
Announcing the winner of the 2022 #CollinsTrophy for Current Achievement: MiMi Aung and the Mars Ingenuity Helicopter Team The small robotic helicopter Ingenuity captured the attention of the world last year as it achieved the first powered flight on another planet.

This iconic image of the first untethered spacewalk by @NASA_Astronauts Bruce McCandless II was taken #OTD in 1984.

🔴 LIVE: We're launching from historic Cape Canaveral for the first time! Join us for live coverage of @NASA's ELaNa 41 launch now. Tune in via @NASASpaceFlight: astra.com/livestream #AdAstra
This week I had a 3D body scan at NASA to measure exact distances of all extremities. Now they can size a space suit by using those measurements. Can’t wait to start EVA training, but first I’ll have to make it through survival school next week. 😉
Nutrients in space are cool. For more on that, sign up for the #DeepSpaceFood newsletter at deepspacefoodchallenge.org/challenge! We’re cooking up stuff that’s out of this world 🚀
☑️Testing nutrient-producing technologies ☑️Examining the process of concrete hardening in space ☑️Deploying a CubeSat to observe gamma ray bursts All in a week’s work aboard the @Space_Station! Check out highlights from the past week in orbit: go.nasa.gov/3rrC4tf

Kill the lights – we’re simulating a Moonwalk! Divers at NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory turned off the lights to simulate what an Artemis astronaut might experience at the lunar south pole - long, dark shadows.

NASA has been choosing people to be astronauts for more than 60 years now. 👩🚀 Do you know how many people have made the cut as @NASA_Astronauts in all that time?
In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, we pause to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of Black astronauts across @NASAHistory, as well as those on the ground who made these missions possible: go.nasa.gov/3oia9dh.

This rock almost looked surprised that I was coming back! Thankfully, I was able to collect another sample here to replace the one I discarded earlier. This may be one of the oldest rocks I sample, so it could help us understand the history of this place. #SamplingMars
