🇯🇵 Japan’s @jma_droneschool & Ichifuji Honten demo “Marine Drone” USV; jet ski–based, ~200m range, FPV, remote/autonomous, modular. Hailed by MoD for SAR & surveillance. Rapid-deploy, low-cost platform for risky zones; upgrades planned for extended ops & defense roles.

A survey of ~1.5M wells (~1,700 aquifers) found groundwater depletion is widespread and accelerating. About 71% show declining water. Declines have sped up since 2000. However, ~16% of aquifers have stabilized or recovered, often due to recharge projects. (UC Santa Barbara)

Water loss in public supply systems varies widely: Germany & Japan lead with only ~7% lost; England loses ~19%; New Zealand faces 21%; USA ~14%; China ~20% but some regions >23%; Haiti, parts of Nigeria & India suffer losses over 60%. Fixing leaks is key for water security.
