Spawn Watch
@Spawn_Watch
We're a Caribbean coral spawning database run by @medinaLabPSU and @LizzBoville! Join us to build an understanding of coral reproduction: http://spawnwatch.org
It’s spawning season! spawnwatch.org is a great resource to share coral spawning data. We welcome all contributions, past and current, to further our collective knowledge in this field! @medinaLabPSU @LizzBoville #MarineScience #CoralResearch #coralspawn
Our dedicated team’s multiple night dives have made it possible to collect and preserve gametes from corals spawning after the Fourth Global Bleaching Event! 🌊 These gametes could hold the key to stronger, more resilient reefs. 🧬 #CoralRestoration #Spawning
We had our best P. clivosa coral spawning today with 11 colonies spawning within the same two hour window! Likely producing well over 500K larvae if all goes well in the next day or two!
The Spawn Watch database is live and available for download! As spawning timepoints and locations are shared from direct coral spawning observations we will have a more accurate picture of coral reproductive behavior. Share your data, and download data shared by others!
Our website is up and running! Go to spawnwatch.org to check out our Caribbean coral spawning resources. Share your spawning timing data and begin viewing data entered by other scientists throughout the Caribbean!
