Spring-Ford Weather
@SpringFordWx
An attempt at trying to predict storms in the SF area. Run by @AnthonyDabbundo. 3/3 this winter, 15/15 overall on school predictions since December 2015

UPDATE: Storm looking stronger and stronger with each passing run and I am increasing snow totals to 8-12"
Fun fact: This is the second time in three years that Spring-Ford dismissed early on the first day of spring for a snowstorm! Back in 2016, we had 6” of snow and an early dismissal. Looking like a repeat of that (if not more)
Storm will start as snow... go over to freezing rain overnight Tuesday into Wednesday (that will be very bad) and then back to snow once the main low develops. No school on Wednesday basically a certainty.
Tomorrow is a tough forecast because the snow isn’t particularly heavy at first, and being in late March I don’t think we will see snow accumulation on the roads. Wednesday is a different story and school will likely be cancelled.
ANOTHER March storm on the way… 6-8” Starts tomorrow afternoon as light/moderate snow… the heaviest snow gets cranking early Wednesday morning.

Could easily see over 12” in areas NW of the city. Depends on the heaviest snow bands.
This storm will have some intense snowfall rates tomorrow between 10am-4pm. Philly itself will have temperature issues and I think 4-8” is a good call. The NW burbs 8-12"

Enjoy the snow day Wednesday. 8-12” area wide.
Subject to change later on tonight once new modeling comes in*
Two hour delay tomorrow is the forecast.

1” of snow, pretty much only on grass tonight.
I don’t think a delay happens tomorrow. But at this point, nothing would surprise me, schools don’t play games with ice.
Three winters of making predictions, and the staff of SF weather was finally wrong. Hard to predict this one from a thousand miles away.
Given what I’ve seen of the school parking lot, a day off is a very real possibility. But, the prediction remains a delay because I’m not around to definitely say otherwise.

Just so everyone knows.. the person who runs the official SF instagram/twitter has no control over the decision. But I admire the creativity.
There is a real threat for ice Monday night. By mid-Janaury, everything warms up.
Beat SF to it by a matter of minutes yet again.
Official prediction is a 2-hour delay. As @TheRealBSeltz has pointed out, almost every neighboring school has called for a delay. Enjoy the extra sleep.
PHL registered 4” of snow, with Phoenixville reporting 3.5”. Happy with this forecast.
Forecast Update: I feel pretty confident with 2-3” for us. 3-5” in PHL. Dry air will limit our precipitation this far NW, and the heaviest snow is in NJ.
Confidence is low on this because I really don’t have a clue what the road cleanup/parking lots look like.
Many people are asking about tomorrow. I’m out of the country right now so I have no way of judging the local roads. I know it’s going to be brutally cold, so I’ll say a two hour delay is likely.
