First @kspaonline fall conference in at least five years!! Today, 41 student journalists spent the day learning from industry professionals, expert advisers, and KU professors. (And I taught a little too 😉)

🧵After reading 41 pitches from teens for a @nytopinion piece, here's some words of advice for teen journalists: 1) Be more direct. Tell the editor in the first 3 sentences what specifically you want to write abt. Don't waste space summarizing the main points of a general issue.
