Friend of mine on a mission had a new rule from his mission president passed down recently- no conversations are private. Their mission companions are encouraged to read everything they send to friends, family, etc. Is this common practice now?

the church is so boring every person i meet who has no ties to the church or utah is the coolest person i have ever met and it makes me so sad to know i could have been cool my whole life instead of making sure i was wearing the same exact underwear as my mom and dad
