Everyone won't get there. But at least they taught you basic skills: reading, writing, and arithmetic. You made friends and built a network of people in your community. Schools teach far more than what's in the textbooks.
Maybe one of your classmates is so fascinated by what your teacher does that they choose a career where they'll be that inspiration for your child.
Maybe someone in your geometry class is so enamored with numbers and angles that they become the physicists responsible for making sure your airplane can make it to its next destination.
Schools offer a variety of subjects that are vital to maintaining the world. Maybe chemistry will inspire the next chemist, history class will inspire someone to become a historian to record history so we can reference past successes and mistakes...
Schools aren't supposed to teach you everything. Some things are for your parents. For example, why is it my responsibility as your teacher to help you navigate and cope with your emotions? Why is it my job to teach you how to properly socialize?
