Of course COVID was a terrible thing. Many mistakes were made. But my view is that we owe it to the people who died (and the people who loved them and who cared for them) to do a significantly better job of analysing the situation than most people are doing at the moment. /FIN

I don’t think anything else- in the charity sector or the state- produces this sort of rate of social return. If, as some fear, we are on a precipice and about to follow the tragic example of Scotland re our places of worship, then the social effect will be cataclysmic.
