I'm going to be at #ONA24! If you're here, come find me at the help desk near registration! Can't wait to see everyone.
Chinese fortune cookies sure have changed since I was a kid.
Officially graduated with my M.Div. So much more ahead but these three years were so incredibly formative. Happy to have received 3 awards as well - one for preaching and pastoral care, one for contributions in church music, and one for being Top 2 in Church History.
And just like that, 3 years of seminary is complete. When I said I was going to do this in 4 years while working FT, people thought I was crazy. And when I completed it in 3, they confirmed that. Hours of sleepless nights, writing papers and studying are now done. Grad is May 31.
I have three papers left to write in seminary. Really, two papers and an analysis, but let's call it three papers.
That moment when you think "what was your first CD" might be good for a team icebreaker, but you are probably the only person who ever bought CDs.
My field ed supervisor is having me re-read John Swinton's "Raging with Compassion" for one of my goals this semester. I just grabbed my copy off the book shelf and the amount of this book that is underlined is a reminder of how much I loved it the first time.
This week at #ONA23 someone who I REALLY respect in this industry told me she’s been following my work for a long time. She will never know how much that meant. So grateful for another year and another great conference.
I really had the best volunteers this year!
That’s a wrap on night one of registration at #ona23. Cannot wait to see everyone and reconnect at this year’s conference!
Sunday's sermon is written - thanks to the lectionary, I'm finally preaching on other gospels. Up to this summer, I'd preached a half dozen times - all on the book of John. Now, I'm deep in Matthew land.
I’m doing an advanced Greek ind. study in the fall, translating John and Ephesians. Because the Johannine community was likely in Ephesus, I have a hypotheses that Paul’s letter may have influenced some of the themes in John. Starting to translate John this morning before work.
When I started seminary, I had no idea how much I would change or what would feel like a loss in my life. But there are people who have known me for a long time who I don't think really know me anymore. That sometimes makes my heart hurt.
Nothing. This is my dream.
It’s Barbenheimer day!!! This is my reward for finishing my doctrine paper on time and working Saturday.
