LEAP has become an increasing presence in our community. This reached a new level with their plans at the Eagle MEGA site. Join us as we peel back the onion on LEAP. Who are they? What authority do they have? How are they funded? Follow us to find out.

Thanks to @EmilyDievendorf for asking tough questions and pushing for changes. We need additional transparency & accountability for SOAR projects. Public funds require public transparency. No more NDA's and shell LLC corporations backed with @MEDC funds!

@EmilyDievendorf and I call for amendments to SOAR, “Make it in Michigan” Package. We are ready to negotiate for the best deal possible for the working class. These amendments would move $1.5 Billion from SOAR to Housing and put working-class guardrails on the housing funding.

Some of us in Eagle township are watching to see how our local State Rep @EmilyDievendorf feels about this SOAR expansion. We hope our elected officials will stand with teachers & schools and not big businesses & corporate welfare.

Education groups joint letter on SOAR extension. “Reenacting SOAR would be the continuation of failed economic policy straight from the Engler and Snyder playbook.“

Democrat Representative @DylanWegela makes the case for why corporate welfare doesn't work. will @MIHouseDems listen?

A retread of Democrat “lost decade” policies producing “lost decade” results. And, once again, Michigan taxpayers get stuck with the bill.

Do any Michigan residents have environmental concerns about the #MEDC project in Mundy Township? $250 million of our tax dollars will be approved tomorrow, in order to help fund this "big ol' straw" pulling water out of the Great Lakes #StopMEDC #StopMundy

Finally, an honest assessment of semiconductor chip plants and their water usage. Do you want to give a corporation a "big ol' straw" into the Great Lakes? #MadeinMichigan #BetrayedinMichigan #stopcorporatewelfare #MEDC #purelansing #water #mipol siteselection.com/issues/2023/ja…

More #CorporateWelfare from #MEDC is coming to Mundy Township tomorrow. $250 million to a nonprofit with zero accountability or public transparency. What could go wrong? #StopMEDC #StopMundy michiganbusiness.org/49ab1f/globala…

Follow the money--Read the details about how much funding the Legislature is funneling to the corrupt MEDC. Their revenue increased $1.4 billion in 2023! Defund the MEDC! Defund Corporate Welfare! michiganbusiness.org/4928fd/globala…

Defund the MEDC!

Defund Corporate Welfare!

How many more projects like this does #MEDC have? This agency's funding has increased 10x. In 2018, the agency had operating revenue of $154 million. Now MEDC gets $1.7 billion to spend on secret and shady economic development deals.

Among the expenses paid for so far with the taxpayer funded grant were $11,000 for a flight to Budapest, $4,500 for a coffee maker, about $100,000 to sponsor an event + $130,000 on legal/consulting fees incurred over the business' first months. detroitnews.com/story/news/pol…

As the legislature considers economic development initiatives and SOAR, hard questions should be asked about #MEDC. The state agency continues to grow, receiving over $1.7 billion of your tax dollars to spend on secret and shady economic development deals. #StopCorporateWelfare

Let's hope the House cleans up these bills to #StopCorporateWelfare

Trying to make sense of a pile of economic development substitutes that fell out of the sky in the Senate tonight is not quite the nightmare of the energy legislation in the fall but it's close.

Just adding to the list of receipts. We have every opportunity to change course on these policies. The evidence continues to show what it always has that corporate handouts don't work. bridgemi.com/business-watch…

This year alone I've voted no on $3.7 Billion in corporate/business handouts. One of my no-votes was the Marshall Battery Plant deal with Ford who was set to receive $1.7 Billion in handouts. This week they announced they were indefinitely pausing the project. (1/7)

Important accountability work by @PaulaGardner: Michigan spent $29K per year for jobs that pay on average about $50K. 4 in 10 pay less than $45K

Investigation: @GovWhitmer says tax money funds ‘good-paying jobs.’ We found that $228 million in subsidies in 2023 are for jobs that pay less than average. Here’s what else we found ⬇️

#MEDC economic plans are failing! The state is paying companies to create low paying jobs. #StopCorporateWelfare and bad economic deals! #BanSecretDeals

Last year, @GovWhitmer's administration committed ➡️ $335 million in corporate incentives to ➡️ 83 companies for ➡️ 11,408 jobs that pay about ➡️ $50,000 per year. That's about ➡️ $29,000 per job or ➡️ $24 an hour. ➡️ 40% of these jobs pay below MI's median base wage: ➡️ $45,510

Halting corporate welfare and bad economic deals is bipartisan! Democrats and Republicans should come together to ban secret nondisclosure agreements. #MEDC and their business subsidies should be subject to transparency and taxpayer disclosure!

Propaganda, funded by tax dollars, featuring Kirk Crowner. #MEDC omitted the fact that Krik bought a vacant parcel near the Eagle Megasite. He is often the only supporter #LEAP can find, despite not living here. Your own tax dollars are at work against YOU!

All you need to know about Michigan’s economic development bureaucracy is that they seriously considered whether the state should give $50 million in subsidies to a $425 million copper mine project that “doesn’t have investors.”
