Strategic Influence
@Strat_Influence
I have spent more than 20 years in strategic communication, including covert influence. I hope to demystify a wildly misunderstood topic.

I have called for fire a time or two, and that Long Range Precision Fires program is amazing. Frees the Army up a bit from having to rely on air support in the event the AF can't fly due to threat air defense.
UK now formally involved with the US on their Future Vertical Lift (V-280 Valor or SB>1 Defiant) and Long Range Precision Fires (HIMARS or MLRS and 155mm howitzer munition) programs.
Great points from @wtfopsecmonkey on the Great Bitcoin Caper yesterday that are a lot more insightful than "China did it." #Twitter
Here are some thoughts about what happened yesterday. 1. Twitter has unlimited access to your account. They can read, modify, and tweet as you if they wanted. 2. The people that full access to these accounts are lacking in security. Maybe an intern role would be best for them.
While the hacks run around today claiming China hacked Twitter accounts, professionals are concerned watching China's relationship with African countries grow.

A fascinating article that @Nicochan33 posted. When you think of (anti) immigration narratives, this provides some interesting context. There is a lot of socio-cultural anthropology to unpack here.

We provide context and meaning to symbols. When you allow fears to overpower your perceptions of things, the other side wins. You find Tibetan Buddhist swastikas all over SE Asia. I really hope this person is joking.

I am certainly curious to look at this, while I am always skeptical of these sorts of claims, the Chinese do conduct influence this way with more gusto than say, the Russians.

It is an interesting idea, and I want to learn a bit more. This concept would fit in Russian reflexive control "doctrine", but it seems a bit hard to actually execute. I run campaigns to change behavior all the time, things rarely work exactly as you expect.
If you thought critical thinking protects from propaganda, we have bad news for you. Russian spetspropaganda has a whole influence tactic targeting those who think critically. And it's working. euromaidanpress.com/2020/07/07/a-g…
We must strike an effective balance between "Small Wars" and "WW3." We need some sort of partition to keep both skillsets alive and resourced. Too bad COIN doesn't provide jobs like an F-35 does and we treat this is an either/or problem.

The Chinese hammer away with messaging like this and then identify dissenters through a massive surveillance state.

I spent a year working on a counter-radicalization program in #Mali. There are number of long term simmering tensions between tribal and pastoral peoples there that terror groups are very effective at exploiting along with their usual radicalism.

#China is exceptionally aggressive using information to support national security objectives. I am not convinced we have a good picture of their activities. By "we" I mean the whole of government, I know the CFIUS people and people in the IC have been on this for 15+ years.
Great point. We have strength, which means nothing without the wisdom to apply it.
Is there any chance that we can shift the discussion away from being “tough” on China and Russia to being “smart” on China and Russia?
And socialism killed more people than anything else in the last century. What is your point? Cherry-picking numbers for a narrative?
