Hi, I’m Stuart, a UK astrophotographer capturing deep-sky objects in SHO and broadband. I image with a Takahashi FS-60CP, FS-60CB and a Celestron EdgeHD 8”, paired with ASI2600 cameras. I’ll be sharing finished images and behind-the-scenes setups. Here are some favourites 👇
A proud moment, My Andromeda Galaxy image featured in BBC Sky at Night Magazine today ✨ First deep sky target I ever shot, and still one of my favourites. #Astrophotography #M31 #BBCSkyAtNight #astronomy
The first event in 2026 that caught my eyes was a prominence eruption on the southeast limb, immediately followed by a brightening (not quite a filament eruption?) to the west. They may have been not related. This animation is made up with AIA 304Å images blended with 171Å.
Heres another edit on my M42 and Orion Nebula, this time I've added more stars into the image, few people have said they prefer this. Im still a bit unsure. Let me know what you guys think about it compared to my other 2 versions posted previously #orionnebula #astronomy #space…
The Horsehead Nebula A cold, dense cloud of gas and dust silhouetted against a glowing wall of hydrogen in Orion. This iconic shape is a stellar nursery, where new stars are forming deep within the darkness, sculpted by intense radiation from nearby massive stars. ✨ My focus…
M42 Orion Nebula This is a crop in of my previous image, great quality for socials but not for large prints and I think it looks great. Hopefully got a couple of clear nights approaching and I can get out with the scopes for some more images.
A few years ago i was lucky enough to be working at an event Brian Cox was attending, had a one of my prints ready with a pen to sign it for me and below he wrote "a magnificent view of the universe" It was an incredible experience and even having a short conversation left me…
Taking my calibration frames on the Tak fs60cb couple of weeks back when I was at Dumfries. Such a cool picture! #takahashifs60cb #astronomy #space #narrowband
Here we have the Andromeda M31, the very first astro image i ever took on a skywatcher 130pds with a modded canon 600d and the other image was taken a couple of weeks ago. There is 5 years between them, what a difference ! #Andromeda #astrophotography #space #astronomy
Here is one on my very first images with the mono rig a few years ago. Taken on the Takahashi fs60cb (1.04x) FF with the asi 2600mm pro and the Chroma LRGB filters, its roughly about a night and a half of imaging time. Overall I was pleased with the details and colours that…
Had a go at reprocessing this image from last week as I wanted to try and bring out the Orion core a bit more, used a couple of different techniques on PixInsight. I felt last weeks one had a bit much going on. Much happier with how orion looks here. Hope you's like it! #m42…
Heres another capture from a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the seeing conditions deteriorated this night leading to not alot of data for this target espcially the sulphur channel. Check out my other images. Date captured - 19/11/2025 Equipment used for the data…
Another image from a couple of weeks ago, I'd love to run this with the other Tak as its a wider field to fit both the heart and soul nebula together. I'd also love to image Melotte 15 with the Celestron edge 8hd but I suppose I need to wait for another clear night in Scotland…
NGC 1499, the California Nebula, is a large emission nebula in Perseus located around 1,000 light-years away. Its distinctive shape is created by clouds of hydrogen gas glowing under intense ultraviolet radiation from the nearby hot O-type star Xi Persei. The bright, textured…
Because OSIRIS-REx samples were collected and analyzed free of earthly contamination, these findings give strong evidence that crucial ingredients for life’s chemistry were readily available on asteroids throughout the solar system.
