At Twitter’s crucible moment, the words of poet Bob Dylan come to mind “Hey, hey Woody Guthrie I wrote you a song, ’Bout a funny ol’ world that’s a-comin’ along, Seems sick and it’s hungry, it’s tired and it’s torn, It looks like it’s a-dyin’ and it’s hardly been born.” 2/2
Hello all- for what it matters, I’m taking a pause from Twitter until I see if it’s new ownership mitigates hate speech and staunches the normalization of emotional and physical violence. 1/2
Walked another long segment of the Charleroi/Brussels Canal. Tubize to Halle, passing Lembeek. Rested at Café De Fazant, then recrossed the canal and train tracks to Den Herberg. Intent is to eventually walk the waterway from South Belgium, through Brussels, ending in Antwerp.
Walked another segment of the Charleroi-Brussels canal today. Finished with a stop at Cantillon and then later in Saint-Gilles for what will likely be (sadly) the final L’Annex Saison of the 2022 season for me.

Walked through Northern France today, along the Sambre River. Train/bus to Erquelinnes and then zigs and zags across the Belgium/France border. Later trained to Thuin for a revisit and re-climb of their bell tower. For refreshments, L'Estaminet had a very good beer menu.
Scored a B+/A- on this morning’s breakfast. It would be great if more companies graded their products’ nutrition values. (Not trying to be self-righteous. I would just prefer that on days I fail it’s by informed choice.)
Visited the waterfront shipping area of Antwerp. Home to the largest coffee warehouses in the world, I’m hoping to arrange a future visit and lecture for my Food Studies students. Once back in the central part of Antwerp, had a beer at Oud Arsenaal, while the sun shone.
