Next week is @SunViewer 's 5 year anniversary! As you might know, this twitter account is not regularly updating anymore due to my, the founder's, busy Master Study. However, I would love to involve contributors into this twitter account! If you have any ideas, let me know!

The Optimist Razor When choosing who to spend time with, prioritize spending more time with optimists. Pessimists see closed doors. Optimists see open doors—and probably kick down the closed doors along the way. Remember: Pessimists sound smart, optimists get rich.

A bright Kreutz sungrazing comet is approaching the Sun. The comet made me think of C/2011 N3 that visible in EUV SDO images ~ 2011 July 5-6. It may peak around the same level of brightness or a little brighter? I expect the comet to enter C2 ~ 2 UT of July 13, perihelion ~8 UT

This X2.2-flare is from region 2992, which is occulted right now as it disappears off the #Sun's west limb. Likely, the actual flare was even larger than an X2! If this keeps up, we might see some amazing #solarstorms launched on the farside of the #Sun in coronagraphs this week!

Wow! Big X-class solar flare right now!!

The Sun sends salutations 🌞 On Saturday, April 16, the Sun emitted a powerful burst of energy, an X-1 solar flare. Flares and solar eruptions can sometimes impact radio communications, electric power grids, and navigation signals: go.nasa.gov/3JNDCnz

The only corona I want to touch!

We’ve touched the Sun! ☀️ Announced today at #AGU21, NASA’s Parker Solar Probe has officially become the first spacecraft to fly through the Sun’s outer atmosphere, or corona. Learn more: go.nasa.gov/3yrKYsL

I'd use the term "survive" kinda loosely here... 😅 I think "dragged its rapidly decaying body through perihelion and limped off to die in a dark and lonely cave" is a better description of events... 😬 but it sure was an amazing event to witness! ☀️☄️🪦

Exactly a decade ago, we learned that C/2011 W3 (Lovejoy) survived its solar encounter! It is the first Kreutz-group comet to survive perihelion since 1970, and is currently the second brightest comet of the 21st century!😃

The coronal mass ejection from today's M4.9 solar flare can be called nothing else than a disappointment. The CME is faint, slow and mostly aimed southwards. We expect little or no effects from it once if it arrives at our planet. More M-class events from 2860 remain possible.
